Gavy is the recipient of the La Trobe Multicultural Award 2024 for his outstanding contributions to multicultural communities, and has been officially recognized by government leaders including Stephen Bali MP.

In 2022, Gavy was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Social Work by the International Internship University. Under his NGO named RSASDS, he’s assisted countless individuals on critical issues like food security, housing instability & social exclusion.

Gavy has also been honored by the Chandigarh United Nations Association for his charitable work in disability support, COVID-19 relief, cancer awareness, and elderly care. He’s been doing humanitarian work in India as well as in Australia.

Roots in India

Born and raised in Rottan Wali, Rajasthan, Gurjinder Singh Gavy grew up surrounded by the values of community service, leadership, and grassroots responsibility. Coming from a family deeply connected to public service, he witnessed firsthand the importance of addressing people’s concerns and creating meaningful change at the local level. These early experiences shaped his belief that leadership begins with listening, empathy, and service to the community.

Building a Community in Australia

After moving to Australia for higher education, Gavy recognised the challenges faced by international students and young migrants navigating a new country. Driven by the same values instilled during his early years in India, he began supporting students through guidance, advocacy, and community initiatives. His efforts grew into larger platforms focused on student welfare, youth empowerment, and strengthening connections between the Indian diaspora and Australia.
